An online 12-session overview of the
ancient wisdom at the heart of the Christian Gospels.
Dr. Shaia's decades of scholarly research and brilliant insight have allowed him to uncover the deep wisdom of the gospels and develop a vital new understanding of these four texts.
Dr. Shaia has discovered that, beneath and beyond the biblical story of Jesus, these texts provide a life map for the spiritual journey – a universal, four-stage journey of transformation that underlies all the world's great spiritual traditions.
This four-stage journey comes into clear focus through the lens of Christianity's four traditional gospels. And there is more. This Four-Gospel Journey was created - millennia ago - to lead us to a more harmonious life. It still does!

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Alexander John Shaia lives the rhythms of his Aramaic and Lebanese heritage. He grew up immersed in the ancient traditions of Middle Eastern Christianity (Maronite Catholicism).
Dr. Shaia received his undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame, where he was also privileged to study with Joseph Campbell. Following a brief time in seminary, he earned his master’s in Counseling Education, a master’s in Religious Education, a graduate certificate in Pastoral Psychotherapy, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology specializing in Jungian methods of healing. He went on to study in Switzerland, and became a senior Teaching Member of the International Society for Sandplay Psychotherapy.
Integrating these disciplines with his lifelong practice of prayer, along with his decades of counseling, teaching and leading retreats across the world, has shaped Alexander John into a unique thought leader, prolific author, and widely sought-after consultant, trainer, and inspiring speaker.
In 2001, he founded Quadratos — an educational organization to teach the universal, age-old four-path journey for radical transformation — and the four Christian gospels as an exemplar of the four paths.

The Four-Gospel Journey Program is an introductory course that provides an overview of the paradigm shift revealed by Quadratos on the Gospel and its practices. This fresh ancient story of Christianity offers us a way to greater harmonious living today.
The Four-Gospel Journey Program can be experienced in two ways, as a Study and as a Process. Both experiences last 11 weeks (with an optional 12th week) and they both rely on Alexander John Shaia's seminal book: Heart and Mind: The Four-Gospel Journey for Radical Transformation as the central text.
The Study is an overview of this paradigm shift on the Gospel and its practices. In the Study, the gatherings are recorded and will be available to re-watch up to 3 weeks after the Study ends. The limit on participant numbers for the Study is approximately 50.
The Process is intended to be a more reflective experience, patterned like the 2-year transformational journey we call A Heart and Mind Circle. Due to the reflective nature of the Program and the personal sharing that is integral to the experience, none of the gatherings are recorded. The limit on participant numbers for the Process is approximately 8.
There is no reason why you shouldn't do both!
If you are new to this community, then the Study offers a conceptual overview of The Four-Gospel Journey with the option to miss some weeks and watch the recordings at a later time.
The Process requires you to participate every week and to share the journey with the other people in your cohort. This isn't just understanding the journey, this is experiencing what it is like to walk the four paths that make up the Four-Gospel Journey.
The Process would be a good option for you if you have already experienced the Study, or you already understand the main concepts of Quadratos, and would like to go deeper, especially if you're not yet able to commit to a full 2-year Heart and Mind Circle.
The core difference between a Heart and Mind Circle and the Study or the Process is the depth of commitment both in time and personal reflection.
A Heart and Mind Circle is an intentional journey (up to two years) where you walk the paths slowly and deeply accompanied by the others in your circle. Whereas, the Study and the Process are both an 11-week overview of the four paths and four-gospel journey.
If you're seeking for spiritual depth and personal transformation, consider learning more about a Heart and Mind Circle.
If your wish is for an overview of The Four-Gospel Journey, both as a concept and a practice, then the Study is an excellent way to begin.
If your wish is a more reflective, inner experience of The Four-Gospel Journey, and/or a taste of a Heart and Mind Circle, then the Process is an excellent way to go.
No, if you sense a desire for the intentional depth of a Heart and Mind Circle, please sign up to attend an upcoming Information Session. This would be your next step in discerning whether to participate in a Heart and Mind Circle.
